Manchester City win their home game in a 3-0 victory over Arsenal as they try to hold onto a dying title fight against, league runaways, Liverpool FC.
47′ Man City striker, Raheem Sterling, was the first to break the deadlock after a mistake made by Arsenal’s David Luiz.
48′ Arsenal went down to 10 men, in the second half, after Luiz made a second mistake that saw him leave the game early.
Arsenal suffered two injuries in the second match of the Premier League’s restart since it’s absence three months ago.
3′ Free kick to Man City after Raheem Sterling was sent into the ground by the Arsenal defender, Pablo Mari, on the edge of the box. Kevin De Bruyne took the shot and it made contact with Bernd Leno’s glove, who managed to tip it over for a corner.
6′ The Gunners was forced to make their first substitution early on as Granit Xhaka stretchered off the pitch and Dani Ceballos took his place.
24′ Another injury for the Gunners displeasure as Benjamin Mendy came off for David Luiz in the second, early, sub for the London-based side.
34′ Sterling attempted to break the deadlock as he cut inside the box and fired it towards the far post but it was met by the hands of Leno, who pushed it away for a corner. Despite their attempts, nothing came from the corner.
37′ Riyad Mahrez recieved a through ball from De Bruyne, gliding past the Arsenal defence. He used his side-foot to try and send the ball into the net but it was saved by Leno.
39′ De Bruyne once again made a play through the Gunners defense to Sterling, who was lying in wait to try and chip the keeper but the ball flew over the crossbar.
47′ GOAL – De Bruyne crossed the ball into the box towards Sterling, who was charging into the box. As Luiz attempted to block the ball, it bounced up and landed in front of the Englishman allowing him to slot it in the far corner past Leno. Man City 1 – Arsenal 0.

48′ GOAL – Another mistake by Luiz saw him see a red card after Mahrez was sent to the ground in the box giving Man City a penalty. The penalty was taken by De Bruyne, who slotted it in the bottom right corner as Leno dived left. Man City 2 – Arsenal 0.
60′ Send a postcard – City looked to make it a three goal deficit for the Gunners as De Bruyne passed it to Sterling who was free on the left handside. However, as he was running out of space, he tried to slot it into the center of the box but got himself tangled up in his own legs.
65′ City made their first substitution of the game, sending Mahrez and David Silva off for Benardo Silva and Phil Foden.
67′ Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta used up the rest of his available substitutions swapping Joe Wilock, Eddie Nketiah and Mattéo Guendouzi for Alexandre Lacazette, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson.
69′ City made another set of substitutions as they looked to cement their win against the Gunners, swapping De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte for Rodri and Fernandinho.
79′ Another city substitution saw Gabriel Jesus coming off for Sergio Aguero.
80′ Manchester saw themselves being add onto the list of injuries as the Blue’s teammates Ederson Morales and Eric Garcia made contact, which resulted in Garcia being laid flat out on the pitch.
88′ Garcia was finally stretchered off the pitch which meant that both Man City and the Gunners were down to 10 men. 11 minutes were added to injury time to make up the time lost dealing with the injured defender.
91′ GOAL – Aguero received the ball after a 1-2 from Sterling which pulled Leno to the left handside in a 1-on-1 with the Argentinian. As Aguero tried to pocket the ball into the far corner, it hit the post and bounced back into the box. However, Foden was in the right place at the right time to smash it into the back of the net.
