Racing Point, the outfit that was once known as Force India before the team went into administration in 2018. However, Lawrence Stroll bought a 16.7% share into the team to own part of the team with its CEO Otmar Szafnauer.
In this season, team known as Racing Point, gained the nickname the ‘Pink Mercedes’ after people connected their car to the defending constructor champions Mercedes AMG Petronas’ car, the W10. This connection generated as the nose of the pink outfit is similar to the one at the Mercedes garage.
Feeling if their rivals can be successful through different aspects of their car, they may as well take their ideas and apply it to their own.
In light of this, the last time we saw Racing Point was at Barcelona during Formula One’s winter testing. Now, during the first round of the F1 world championship, we will truly see the potential of the Silverstone-based outfit.
So far, they have made an impressive start to the season with Sergio Perez making it into the top five of fastest drivers in the grid. However, some of the other drivers were using slower compound tyres when they were using the softs.
The best result from todays practice sessions was at the hands of Perez, when he finished third behind both Mercedes drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, with a time of 1:04.945.
However, we will have to wait until tomorrow to get a full representation of the best cars on the grid, during the first qualifying session of 2020.
